A type of electronic dance music characterized by its quick tempo and use of digitally synthesized instruments.
**A brief history & explanation of Techno Music Techno music oringinated in gay african american dance clubs, mainly in New York, Detroit and Chicage, around the late 1970s and early 1980s. Currently it is notorious for being played at all night dance parties also known as raves. The earlist form of techno was influenced by disco, hip-hop, funk, and European electronic music. This style of music is most closely related to dance music that is played in clubs. The similarities between techno and dance music are numerous; both are produced with the intent of listeners being moved to dancing. However, techno music is usually associated with underground dance music which isn't as trendy. Mainstream dance music, such as hip-hop, is more widely recognized and known. In Europe, especially the United Kingdom, techo and other forms of underground dance music have become increasingly popular. Techno music will more than likely gain acceptance in the United States as it already has in other parts of the world. Due to the increaseing use of technology, techno can literally be described as the music of the future. |
***Different Styles: Hardcore- Hardcore techno involves speeding up the beats until they are extremely fast and unable to be danced to. Ambient- This form of techno is more slowed down. It relies on faint, electronic textures and it often referred to as "come-down music." Jungle- Jungle is almost as aggressive as hardcore. It entails combining techno beats with breakbeats and dance hall reggae. |
